An investment fund to drive the innovation ecosystem across Argentina's provinces
CFI has launched Innova CFI, an investment fund aimed at strengthening the innovation ecosystem across Argentina's provinces. Through this initiative, technology startups receive direct financing to develop innovative solutions with local and/or global impact.
This initiative seeks to boost productive growth across Argentina's provinces by funding ventures that address technological and productive challenges in regional economies.
The fund supports projects across all technology verticals at early stages of development, such as Pre-seed and Seed. The goal is to ensure that knowledge generated in the provinces is transformed into concrete solutions for local and global challenges, strengthening the federal productive ecosystem.
The fund operates under a flexible financing scheme, adapted to research and development-intensive business models. The main instrument is contingent debt: a loan that begins to be repaid once the project achieves commercial success, with installments proportional to the company's revenue. The instrument is also convertible, allowing the investment to be converted into equity.
To be eligible, companies must be no more than seven years old and present projects with a minimum technology readiness level of TRL-4, along with a 24-month investment plan. The call is open to all technology verticals, from biotechnology to the knowledge economy, provided that research activities are carried out in Argentina.
Through this tool, CFI integrates financial and technological innovation as pillars of its strategy to strengthen sustainable development and planning across Argentina's provinces.
